Photographer // Liverpool // UK

Michael Kirkham is a photographer who locates the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Initially producing a compelling portfolio of work centered on social documentation, portraiture, weddings, and event-based photography, Kirkham has carried forward this approach into a diverse range of composition-led editorial projects with commercial partners and cultural publications.

Gaining international recognition for his Urban Goals project, Kirkham has since gone on to exhibit the work as part of The Lie of the Land exhibition at MK Gallery, Milton Keynes in 2019, and A Persistent Place at the APT Gallery, London in 2021.

Kirkham has also exhibited his documentary and portraiture work with Liverpool Independents Biennial, Threshold Festival, and Look17 International Photography Festival, among others.

Kirkham’s ability to delicately capture detailed stories in amongst an everyday backdrop is reflected in his work for publications such as Mundial magazine and Bido Lito Magazine. This feel for natural space and unearthing personality is also contained in Kirkham’s commercial work, of which clients include Microsoft, UEFA, Nivea for Men, BT Sport, DAZN, YouTube, United Utilities, Arden University and Cinch.

Michael Kirkham is based in Liverpool and is available for commercial and editorial commissions across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
